Hi, I’m Jaime
I believe therapy should be a place where you can breathe freely, express your experiences without needing to translate them, and share what matters to you without minimizing your pain. So much of the healing happens not just in the tools we use, but in feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood without judgement.
My path into therapy was shaped by personal experience and the spaces I couldn’t find when I needed them most. I’m a queer, culturally diverse person and for years, I found myself in rooms where I had to do a lot of explaining before we could even get to the real work. That shaped the kind of therapist I wanted to be.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology), am a certified Root Cause Therapy Practitioner and Trauma-Informed Coach, and I’m currently completing my Honours in Psychology while also supporting students in career development at the University of Queensland.
I bring a blend of lived and professional experience to my work, with a focus on helping clients unlock the deeper beliefs and emotional blocks that are shaping their lives.
Our approach to therapy
At Root Therapy, the work isn’t about fixing you. We take a trauma-informed, person-centred approach that blends evidence-based methods with deep emotional work, shaped by lived experience across culture, gender and queerness.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all strategy, therapy here is flexible, collaborative, and attuned to who you are, not just what you’re struggling with.
We draw on a range of approaches, including:
- Root Cause Therapy (primary modality)
- Schema Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Somatic & nervous system-informed techniques
Therapy is always paced with you, not for you. Some clients want structure and strategies. Others are ready to sit with big feelings, patterns, or moments that never felt safe to name out loud. Both are welcome.
Whether you're navigating burnout, exploring personal and professional identity, managing anxiety, or addressing long-held relational patterns, we’re here to support you with depth, care, and empathy - whether in person in Kenmore or online from wherever you are.
Let’s work together to explore your challenges, embrace your strengths, and move toward the life you truly deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can bring up all kinds of questions. Here are a few we’re often asked and if something else is on your mind, just reach out.
What if I don’t know where to start?
That’s totally normal. You don’t need the perfect words, and there’s no such thing as saying the wrong thing. Lots of people come in saying “I don’t know what the problem is, I just know something’s off.” That’s enough. We move at your pace, and I’ll help guide the process so you never feel lost or stuck.
Will I have to explain or justify my identity in sessions?
No. Your identity will never be questioned or judged here. You’re welcome to share who you are, or explore what that means for you, at your own pace. Whether you’re clear about your identity or still figuring it out, this space is designed to be affirming and filter-free, especially for neurodivergent, queer, trans, or culturally diverse clients. I’ll meet you where you’re at - with care, respect and zero assumptions.
What if therapy hasn’t helped me in the past?
That’s something I hear often. Many of my clients come to me after trying other types of therapy that didn’t quite get to the heart of things. The approach here focuses on exploring the root of patterns, not just managing symptoms and many people are surprised by how different that can feel.
How is therapy tailored for LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and culturally diverse clients?
I offer an affirming, flexible space where LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and culturally diverse clients are truly seen and supported, whether you’re exploring identity, facing discrimination, or navigating life’s challenges.
What if I’m not sure I can afford ongoing therapy?
That’s completely understandable. Therapy is a commitment, and it’s important that it works for your budget and energy. We can plan sessions around defined goals, space them out when needed, or adjust frequency based on what’s happening in your life. Therapy doesn’t have to be weekly forever - it can flex. You’re also welcome to book a free 15-minute consult to talk it through first.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes. All sessions are available online via secure video. Whether you're based in Brisbane or anywhere else in Australia (or anywhere in the world), you can access therapy in a way that works for you. Many clients find telehealth more convenient and less overwhelming, especially if you're juggling a busy schedule or prefer being in your own space.
